MADE TO ORDER
I make all pieces to order, to minimise waste and ensure my contemporary collections retain the skill, story, and value inherent in using traditional goldsmithing techniques.
This also means that collection pieces can be made in a different karat or colour of gold, or with alternative gemstones to suit your requirements, just contact me to enquire.
MATERIALS
I use recycled 18K, 14K and 9K gold, and oxidised recycled silver. I only work in solid metals. Nothing is plated, so you can be assured that your pieces retain their beauty and value for generations to come. The process of plating jewellery can itself have a significant environmental impact and adds no value to the piece, hiding its underlying colour and finish. When buying solid gold, you are assured that you are buying heirloom quality pieces.
I use only conflict-free diamonds, and can source fairmined gems for individually commissioned pieces.
I am proud to be a registered fairtrade goldsmith, which means I can source fairtrade gold for commissioned pieces.
PROCESS
I strive to minimise the chemicals used in making wherever possible, making use of less toxic substances such as citric acid in the making process, and reusing or recycling scrap metals and any packaging received by suppliers.
Some pieces have elements of oxidised silver. The oxidisation process involves speeding up the natural tarnishing of the silver, giving it a dark patina. This will age and improve naturally over time showing glimpses of silver colour, giving a distinctive grey-black industrial look which contrasts beautifully with the rich matte yellow gold of the piece.
PACKAGING
My packaging is designed to be eco friendly, with no compromise on luxury. Pieces are presented in beautiful FSC certified gift boxes, designed to be kept and treasured. Outer packaging includes an FSC certified postal box, recycled wood pulp ribbon, recycled postcard and eco tape and filler, along with a reusable gold polishing cloth, a polaroid style photo of my hands at work making your special piece, and an FSC certified gift bag.
CHARITY PARTNERSHIP
I believe that an ethical business goes beyond sustainability to consider how the business can contribute to society. With that in mind I have partnered with TLM.org so that 10% of profits from each piece go to assist in their work supporting children with cancer in Tanzania, one of the worlds largest gold and gemstone mining countries.
